Ministries

Church ministry is important part of our Catholic faith. Jesus called us to proclaim the Word of God and to serve others.  By being part of ministries, you support and nurture the Church and grow together in faith as a whole congregation. Please check the description for each ministry below. God is calling You!

It is very important that all ministers are active practising Catholics coming to every Sunday Mass and going to Confession regularly. If married, must be married in the Catholic Church. Ministers are the advocates of our Catholic faith.

If you require more information please contact Parish office.

Lectors are proclaimers of the Word. One must be living the Word of God by reading the Bible every day, and keeping close to the Sacraments and must be able to pronounce and articulate the Word of God clearly in front of a congregations.

Altar servers serve at the altar and help the priest during the Mass. One must be willing to receive directions and be respectful in fulfilling duties.

Ushers are welcoming and guiding people during the Liturgy to make it flow smoothly and reverently.

These volunteers assist the priest to distribute Holy Communion at Mass and at other designated times. One must have great reverence for the Eucharist and must spend time in front of the Blessed Sacrament regularly.

Those volunteers distribute Holy Communion to the Sick in the hospital, senior homes or home bound. One is required to have great reverence for the Eucharist and must spend time in front of the Blessed Sacrament regularly.

Visiting and journeying in the faith with the sick in Royal Inland Hospital and seniors in Berwick, Kamloops Senior Village, Panderosa, Ridgepoint and Bedford.

Praise and glory to God by singing and praying is the ultimate goal of the choir at Mass. The treasures of liturgy breathe life through animated music of worship along with praise and glory.

Under the direction of Tony Cuzzetto, Choir Master & Cantor, and Sarah Lee, Musical Administrative Director/Cantor, the members of the Sacred Heart Cathedral High Mass Choir sing at the 11:30 AM Mass every Sunday except for July & August. The Choir is also a major part of the Christmas and Holy Week liturgies. The Choir rehearses in the Choir loft on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM, prior to the 11:30 AM Mass. The majority of the hymns, in a blend of classical and contemporary styles, used in the Cathedral are from our hymnal: Journey Songs. The Responsorial Psalms sung during Sunday liturgies are taken from Psalms for Sundays and Solemnities found in our hymnal. The Choir is open to anyone with a passion for singing praise to God and a desire to learn choral music. Choir members that desire to take the occasional lead as a cantor also have the opportunity to do so. New members are always welcome! If you would like to be a full-time or part-time member, please come to one of our rehearsals prior to the 11:30 am Mass or contact Tony Cuzzetto 250-319-7536.
